How we got here

A slightly chaotic meet-cute (that somehow worked)

Hauwa and Abdulbasit

How we met

Our paths first crossed in the most unexpected way.

It started as a missed encounter at a mutual friend's wedding, and then (very quickly) became an extremely intentional set-up that Abdul didn't even know was happening.

That small introduction turned into a real friendship, the kind where you can be yourself, laugh a lot, and talk about the big things without forcing it. Somewhere along the way, it quietly became love.

Over the years, we've built a relationship together filled with adventures, inside jokes, and steady support for one another. Now we're excited to take this next step, and we can't wait to celebrate it with the people we love most.

Hauwa and Abdulbasit

"Same values. Same dreams. Same sense of humour."

Abdulbasit

Abdulbasit

A mixed Kwara and Kogi native, Abdul is often confused about whether to say he's Yoruba or Ebira. It's a long story that his dad tells better -- but the best analogy (stolen from his dad) is:

"Kwara is my Mecca; Kogi is my Medina; and Abuja is my Jerusalem."

That mixed background also comes with an unusual superpower: making friends in the most random places. If you join us for the wedding, this will make a lot more sense.

Abdul is best known for:

  • a secret chef talent
  • a strong dislike for travelling (despite constantly travelling)
  • Stears (IYKYK)
  • and a recent obsession with AI (which, yes, helped build this website)
Hauwa

Hauwa

Unlike Abdul, Hauwa is not confused about her origin. With roots in Kano, she carries a rich cultural heritage, while still meeting the world with curiosity and grace.

An architect by training, she's the creative genius of the pair, with artistic skills that only a few people have truly seen up close. Most people know her as kind, gentle, respectful, and always wearing an infectious smile.

Hauwa is best known for:

  • an "almost" gentle presence (not as gentle once you know her)
  • a thoughtful design instincts
  • a love for horses
  • that infectious smile
